Heard there was some limited evacuations over Kimberley way because of the forest fire situation. How close is it, Sunny?

Hey Dudes,
The fire is probably 30 km away, but these fires can travel a long ways in one day when they spot ahead, and we're in the prevailing weather alley leeward of the fire....not good.
They've issued an evacuation order (leave!) for the St Mary's lake area which is about 20 km WSW of us.
They've issued an evacuation alert (pack yer riggin' get ready to leave) for town of Kimberley.
We await further news. Family/Pets are ready to roll....I'm movin bikes out this weekend, and anything else irreplaceable.

Yes no doubt, thx guys....I've got sprinklers on the roof just waiting to turn the tap on and drive away...one Shovel gone to Cranbrook HD (maybe they'll sell it lol...thx Jay!), the other I'm planning to take to Koots tonite or tomorrow.
Family is prepped, Dogs wary but they're ready, the cat we're trying to be really nice to in case we gotta capture her and stuff in a rubber boot.

had a pretty good soak the other nite...according to regional district website the fire is holding in the side valleys (Fiddler creek for one, where our illicit ski cabin is...it could be gone lol) and hasn't entered St Mary's lake main valley yet. It's been cooler out, has helped for sure. Hope it continues with this cooling trend.

Smoke cleared out a couple days ago - from the house we could not see the lake or the mountains for 3 weeks so nice right now
