Dave...............the deal is (or was) with 66-84, you have to meet everyone in person before the invite, well that was the idea. That went south when we allowed some eastern people we did not meet, that was a mistake. Koot is the one running this forum so things may have changed I am not sure. He may be able to tell you more.

Well you and I are on the same page when it comes to wings.............hotter the better. My vote on invites to this site is still what we decided a while back..............(even tho we (I) fucked up on that) My vote is ............if you haven't met everyone, and got a yes.....................no thanks. Since its vote nite here's mine:
I like the plan to meet people in person, think its important. We met Shake at Horsethief this year, partied w him first nite til 4 then second nite til 430' no bad moves in the man, solid!! Provides some social control and in keeping w the wishes of the group. I will live w the decision of the moderator and decision of the group.

just want to put it out there that id like to think that im not running the forum,that this place is ours,a place to hang and bullshit with friends,that share a camaderie that formed with a meeting at horsethief,and grew to what it is today a small rag tag group of gear,heads i like the fact that members have to meet as stated,,seems to work good that way,when this started back up i was just fucking around on the computer out of boredom and missing the old site,now i would like to add this is not ditching jacks site,if not for jacks site i probably wouldnt of hooked up and met dennman shovel denis,and hammer i first knew of them from shovelhead canada,then the rights went to jack,and after a lengthy time out from a computer meltdown i went hunting for shovel canada and found jacks site instead and tracked the fellas down there.. then at horsethief over beers one year 66-84 was conjured up and denis started a site like this one,, a place for the amigos to hang on and bullshit,,and brainstorm,without big forum drama,and all the downside that they carry,now i will say that jacks site is the best one out there but for me this one sits closer to home,because the members here are my family of brothers from different mothers,and offer a home away from home for all of em when on the road,and know ill recieve the same,,damn ive been rambelin and lost track where i was going with this......whoops! anyways when it comes to this place its gotta be a group decision and i respect everyones outlook on it........

The fellas toss out a name and see how we all feel about included them in our group.
Finally got the front head off.Pulled the rocker box off but have yet to check endplay before I tear into it for any sign of that loud ticking.The valve pads on the rockers show more wear than I want to see.Think I'll be looking for new rockers.

The front intake rocker could probably be reused after dressing.The exhaust rocker looks a little too deep to be salvaged IMO.I'll try for pics once I get the rear head and box apart.


EDIT:Well after disassembly and a closer look,all the rocker pads don't look as bad as I thought.However i've found mismatched rockers in the rear box.One has considerable amount of grinder marks on it.Doesn't make sense the way it has been ground.It looks different in appearance from it's mate in the box.The ones in the front box match and were new in '07.They don't match either of the rear ones.I can't feel any slop in the shaft to bushing fit on any of the rockers.I found the slightest,barely visible contact spot on the rocker box from the rear intake rocker.It doesn't look big enough to have been the location of the loud tick that heard.
I guess my next plan is to get all the thick oil washed out and recheck all the clearances again.
