Re: just got a modern bike!
and I already modified it....
from factory there's a very conservative throttle stop...bucked that off
also if you zip tie the governor spring it gives you a bunch of extra revs...
and lastly of course i updated the exhaust with 3/4" NPT fittings and a canadian tire roto-tiller spark arrestor. $28 invested.

Re: just got a modern bike!
no doubt many of you (all 4 of us) are asking: "what the fuck is he thinking"?
Well...a couple of the neighbors and even some people from Cranky old Cranbrook (Dinktown) were tossing around the idea of a mini-bike challenge this summer. Specifically, when we were riding dirt-bikes over Grey Creek pass last summer we came up with the cock-a-mamie idea that a mini-bike challenge on that route would be real fun. So there's been a number of dudes dug out or gettin' themselves mini-bikes put together for this little run.
We are thinking a poker-run is way to go...that way when people break down every couple miles there'll be a card to pick up and maybe a water-jug to drink from, and possibly some local tea to sample. No idea how it'll turn out but this is the general invite to ya'll.
And yes it's highly illegal....to drink and ride.

Says who sir?
The black bears and other woodland creatures that will be running helter skelter from the crazy mini bike riders don't care.

Your gonna need support vehicles to pack extra gas and beverages on that run. Thinkin you'll need a jell seat pad to soften that rear suspension although those tires look like they'd absorb a lot of the bumpy terrain.

Re: just got a modern bike!
The key challenge for me is no support vehicles, just like with Shovel trips.
It's got a carrying rack for the back and I'm gonna take an extra gallon of gas with me. I think it should go 40-50 miles on the gallon tank its got, so the grey creek pass should be easily possible with some side tours up persnickety hollows. Otherwise hotdogs/beer/implements will be in a slingbag over the backbone in front of seat. That's next project is this hauling setup and some shakedown runs to get my shit together.
