....and now for something completely different
....I can't afford to spend any more money on the bikes right now...so I dug around in the shed for this mandolin kit I bought about a year ago for $60...it's actually got everything needed to build a mandolin, body pre-built in the same country they make twinks, neck needs to be glued on, all hardware needs assembled and installed, all sanding and finishing needs done...believe it or not the quality of the wood actually looks okay (Spruce top, mahogany back and sides, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard)! It's a copy of Gibson's famous body style ...I'm really lookin forward to this project, will keep ya'll apprised of my "chinkolin" progress...maybe I'll carry this with me on the bike.
And speakin' of chinks here's a little Irish Chink who likes hotdogs....oh and so does his Siberian sister.....

Coola seems to have gotten over his pre-time change Scaredy Catahouli stage. When it was time for night chores he'd put himself in his kennel and stay til we got back. Now he's back to joining us.Gotta keep an eye on him when he's outside and unleashed. His nose pulls him where ever there's an interesting smell on the wind.Pain in the ass at times but other times he's a goofy pubescent pre-teen.

Wilbur is just fine. Two of the biggest hams and slabs of back bacon still standing on her own 4 legs. She's gotta be up to or greater than 500 lbs. of porcine pulchritude. Got a source for past due date bread and buns. Her favourite food. She gets quite vocal if there's no bread in the slop bucket. Now that the weather's decent she can get out for a bask in the sunny spots of warm mud.All in all a Happy well fed pig.sunnydog wrote:...an Daneen wants to know about Wilbur...how's Wilbur?

progress
I been chippin away at this thing...sanded, fit, glued...
then stained back and sides, now applying hard clear finish, a hardwood flooring product suggested by my local paint dealer....brings out grain
Front side...between coats I sand with fine grain, then wipe down and apply more, this shit dries hard just like a guitar finish...then I'll do the headstock top in gloss black....

If my old landlord can make picture hangin wire and plywood sound good then your mandolin from a kit should be just fine.
