Got the slugs packed up an ready to take w me tomorrow.

Meanwhile, here are some pics
Solid lifters, suspecting S&S pushrods, one feller from Shovelsite thought they mighta been a sorta Evo oiling conversion attempt.

Heres the slugs still attached, Koot did mention the thrust faces looked good, and bores were very smooth

Bit of a horizontal mark in the one, middle of photo, hopefully the hone will take care of this, we'll see

That's better.
Don't know about evo oiling but that tappet insert looks like a solid conversion.
See a mix of early and late quad seal shovel pushrod covers there.Got the bottom quad seals if ya want any.Soon to have the top quads too.I use the top quads on the rocker shafts to replace the o-rings.
Looks like your heads may have been resurfaced at some time by the slight flat on the intake spigot.Judging by the contact areas around the bolt holes, I'd check between bolt holes w/ a straight edge for gaps/low spots.
Considering the amount of carbon build up on the piston crowns, the piston side and bore look not bad for scoreing.Hope the hone will clean the barrels up and new rings will get you back to assembling.

Hastings is the ringleader. (get it?). Hows the rods feel and how are the wristpin bushings? Wouldnt hurt to check rod staightness with a checking pin.... Koots got one I think.

Hey Sunny , Looking at the coating in the combustion chamber and the oil stained colour on your pistons ,it seems like you got some blow by happening . The few times I rode with you ,I don`t recall seeing any smoke puffing out of them pipes ?
If you need valve guides ,I probably have the size you need.
Take care.

when ya think you got em clean use a white rag with ATF on it, if it comes out any color other than pink the bore is not clean enough.

Ya can't clean em good enough like Koot said, and I would blow em dry ass well then take your can of WD-40 and spray the bores good just to be extra safe as it also displaces water and make damn sure your run a rod and chunk of of something thru the oil return hole cause you would be amazed what gits trapped in there, and you don't want that shit in the bottom end.....just saying?

Good Koot, jugs are honed, rings should be coming in on Thursday, got the combustion chambers and pistons cleaned up last few nights. Just gotta pull rocker boxes off tonite and clean heads up a bit. That shouldn't take as much elbow grease as the carbonation inside chambers and on slugs, WOW that was a real bear! sunny
