Lower Leg Assembly ? Empty Lower Leg Assembly ?

Post  Big Dave Sun Mar 09, 2014 9:46 am

Going to be honing my lower leg bushings today and have a question on reassembly (early 70s flh) on the very bottom is a steel cup with a paper gasket on the inside and one on the flat bottom , this fits on the bottom of the longer damper bolt that goes through the leg on the axle end . how do you hold this all together when sliding the lowers back on the tubes ?
Hope that made sense
Thanks

Upside down for me.

Damper assembly minus the "steel cup" clipped into tube.
Spring inserted into tube.
Put top nut in tube.
Turn assembly damper side up.
Put the double paper gasketed part on.
Drop the slider onto the tube .
Line up the damper shaft in the slot and tighten.

Voila!!!

Well then do it the hard way!
With dampers clipped into tubes and springs holdin them down.
Drop the cup in the slider and get it in place .
Run the slider up the tube and eyeball the damper lineup in the slider.
Washer nut on and voila!

As for tweaked trees.
