I know that feelin. It'll pass and the desire and need to rectify the problem will take over.Hang in.
I swapped a head in 8 hrs. That's with being meticulous and cleaning all gasket surfaces, piston crowns and head chamber thoroughly.

Not looking too good Wade, unfortunately we feel your pain and been in that situation before. Just be glad it wasn't a wrist pin keeper letting go, and your 400 km's from home. Mine did that on a run out to southeastern Sask, on the way out there lol.....that old shovel wrist pin keeper chewed a gouge out of the cylinder and piston and she was going thru about a litre/100 km lol. We limped it to the St. Victor rally, and all the way back to my place. Them shovels is tuff as nails I can attest to that.
Run the bitch all summer and do a tear down next fall....keep you busy all winter.

That's my feelings too w/ a mix of Syn. and 20/50 in it.My scoot made lots of noise when I ran Pensoil 20/50.

I'm runnin straight 50 for breakin but will switch to straight 60 w/ about 10% Lucas oil treatment in it.

Wade,it might be something to try (the Lucas oil treatment) if it still smokin a bit.It works good in trannys too mixed w/ the gear lube. The stuffs like sticky honey.
