Re: No winner here
Everyone is drifting towards the SAE J2825 "Measurement of Exhaust Sound Pressure Levels of Stationary On-Highway Motorcycles" standard.
Edmonton, Nanaimo, etc etc etc.
Kelowna tried it but the RCMP wanted Provincial regulations (so they could hassle everyone, everywhere) and said they could not support the proposed City Bylaw.
They all say it is 'ALL' vehicles then only go to describe the allowed numbers for motorcycles......
Here is Edmonton

FWIW I have a db meter and tested my shovel.
Idle is OK, 2000RPM is just over. Now since my bike has no Tach how is a cop supposed to perform an RPM test - I won't let him touch my throttle and if he does I will shut the bike off.
I used to have really loud straight pipes - then I grew up. I hear them in the OK valley everywhere - mostly dickheads, same guys probably own monster trucks and have a small penis.
J2825:
For all motorcycles, 92 decibels while the engine is operating at idle speed; or
For motorcycles with less than three or more than four cylinders, 96 decibels while the engine is operating at 2,000 revolutions per minute or 75 percent of maximum engine speed, whichever is less; or
For three- and four-cylinder motorcycles, 100 decibels while the engine is operating at 5,000 revolutions per minute or 75 percent of maximum engine speed, whichever is less.

Re: No winner here
I just bought some Chinee baffles for my straightpipes on the model T...
Put em in and it is definitely quieter...but due to origin of parts now goes "ching-a-ling-ding-ding-dang" where I was hopin' it would go "bing-a-bang-zing-long-dong"
