Re: july 1st long weekend
Any updates on this?
I'm in as well as an old friend of mine from Vernon.
How soon does one need to book one of those little cabins thingys? Sleeping on the ground no longer agrees with me.
When are you going there? Friday night Saturday night?

If you are really going to make it,then I'd call now. Most of the cabins are booked a long time ahead. Some of the old regulars have standing reservations for the weekend.
There are some tents with beds in them also.
I'm headed out Tues. 27th. to get my preferred tent sight.I finally pack an air mattress to smooth out the lumps.Usually i'm not feeling too much by sack time anyhow.

Re: july 1st long weekend
Will be speaking with Mary tonight - she says if Mat does not want his donated tent/bed in the back 40 I might be able to swing it.
Could be a shack opening up as well - will see.
Barring that I guess it is tent/air mattress.......
Save 2 more tent spots where you guys are camping regardless.

Whichever route you take Den there's a place to stay.
BTW - Me and my buddy Drano (Brian) are a go. We're bringing tents in case Mary cannot fix us up so as above, save us a couple of spots.
She is working on it....

I'm thinking I'll be taken the Northern route to Revelstoke and down to Nakusp.Big Dave wrote:You coming through this way Den , your rooms always ready

Just to see if that route gets me to Toad before 11:00pm.
The Monashees seem to jinx me every time I go that way.
I've done the southern route so many times that I need a change of scenery and there's some good new asphalt up that way.

There's at least a couple resident guitars and assorted other noise makers in the pavillion.
If alcohol content is more than 5% ,I drink it.Can't stand the bulk of those low % beverages.

Just checked DriveBC for the alternate route for us in case we want to take Hwy 1 to Revelstoke and down rather than through Fauquier. Have you seen that Hwy 23 is single lane traffic from Revelstoke to Shelter Bay (Ferry) with 30 minute delays? They are seal coating the Hwy. 30 miles of it.

With the 4 lane to Revelstoke it might have been quicker for us to go that route, but now - not so sure. Probably head through the Monashees.

Looks like road repair is everywhere in the interior. There's no getting around it.
I'll still head that way.

Re: july 1st long weekend
So let me get this straight. You two young Vernon fellas are goin on a twink and an evo.
Me, the 68 yr old, is coming from Van.Isl., in 1 day on a 42 yr. old shovel.
Kids these days.I 'll tell ya they're gettin soft.
Forgot to add that all systems are go on the Weerier.
Brakes have wore in.
Oil has been changed to the good stuff for the summer.
Best of all, with 95% of my tourin load ,there is no shakin of the front end.Gave it a test ride today up hill and at varying speeds with road bumps. No noticeable handlebar shimmy. Was a wee bit anticipatin a problem when I took off from home. By the time I headed back home the sphincter had relaxed and I'd forgot about any possible unpleasantness.
