Re: Song....Barn Find
My damn ears won't let me hear the words.Nice tune just the same.
The title reminds me of an old drinkin bud from a Cumberland bar.He was a dispatch rider in WWII and somehow got his bike home to Alberta. He tended bar in Brooks.Retired and came west to be with family.Left his bike with a farmer friend who would fire it up from time to time.Last I heard his old friend was sellin the farm and old Louie was too old to retrieve his scoot.Offered to drive him out in my truck and get it ,but his health failed and he passed.
Use ta give the old fella a ride home on the back of my scoot from time to time.Old bugger fell off one time, just as I had stopped at his place.Felt bad as he was quite frail.Got himself up and walkin before I could get off.I was very apologetic but he made some comment to the affect that he shoulda held on tighter.Non the worse for the tumble.

Re: Song....Barn Find
Guys...i hoped this song would evoke memories and nostalgic feelings in people...I drew from stories I heard about dispatch riders and talking to old timers like Ken Maclean in cranbrook...and Denn that story is heartbreaker....here are the words:
The Barn Find
In the spring of '39, rolled off that assembly line...
Uncle Winnie called, they put me on a ship...
Punched my ticket, sent me on my senior trip...
My first rider he was no more than a boy...
Winters cold and a bullet did destroy...
Many killin fields I roamed, '44 they sent me home...
Ran the mail awhile, then a big parade...
Sent me to the farm, my favourite place to stay...
That poor veteran he was strugglin on the farm...
But raised a family and they fell for all my charms...
Then one day they all were gone...
Auctioneers they simply rolled me in the barn...
And I've waited all these years...
Leakin oil but I never shed no tears...
Then one day I saw the light, started as a crack but soon the world was brite...
That kid showed me the way, brought me out into the light of a new day....

Awesome lyrics ,John.
I can imagine Louie's scoot havin the same sort of life.I'm hopein that 45 still lives on and wasn't scrapped as "just an old motorcycle"
