sizing for pinion race and bearings
Picked up a decent set of cases couple weeks back and am gonna build me a spare shovel motor. What is the pinion race inside diameter original size, what is the original size of the pinion shaft and what is the original size of the bearings supposed to be.

Coop, diameter of pinion shaft bearing surface is 1.250, unsure of the rest, I would guess stock size bearings if your going to replace the race and use a new shaft.... should all be in the manual.

Uh ya I can't find any specs
Believe me I searched every damn book I have and every PDF file and it doesn't state any proper dimensions for the pinion, the pinion race or the roller bearings. The manual gives dimensions for the rods and crank pin but not the pinion. You are correct it is supposed to be 1.25". I just wanted these numbers to see if my shit was within spec is all.
Guy on the shovel site was trying to help by stating you don't need to know the original numbers your just measure and order the correct roller bearings……ya no shit that is a no brainer but how can you order fucking bearings for something when the bearings don't come as .25" or whatever they come as .0002 oversize? well I may be a dumb stubble jumper but no amount of math is gonna be able to measure a pinion shaft, then measure the race and order a bearing that is oversized if you don't know what the blasted original size of the bearing was lol?

When you get your bearings make sure you measure every single one, when we did my 93 with .0002 O.S. bearings I found one or two that were the incorrect size.

Hey Carlos; I believe the std roller size in 0.250 so the std race should be right around 1.7506 if you go with middle of the road clearance.
I believe the plug fit method would be easier and more accurate than measuring. Machinists have told me holding the mic in your hand too long can effect the measurement. An amateur measurer like myself definitely holds the damn thing to long lol.
The down side is how many sets of rollers would a guy have to buy??

Well that was my exact thought, I don't want to buy 4-5 sizes, so I was hoping to find the sizes then do the measuring and only buy maybe 2-3 sets. Ya plug method would defiantly be the way to go.
I am going to be ordering some bottom end tooling this week so I can line lap cases, and balance flywheels and then get the reamers for cam cover.
Hey Jack what the hell rock you been hiding under? Was wondering what thee fuck have you been doing, starting to think you had bought that twink softy from your brotha and started your own SOA chapter!!!
