As most of ya know I lost one of my bag lids on my run up to see Dave in Lac la Biche.Well I found another lid but the hardware is wrong for my bags.
I'm needing these pieces.

Ya know Denn, except for the louvred piece I think a guy could make those other ones pretty easy, cut out shapes and bend w a little heat and vice. Another thought: You lookin for factory shape or would you adapt a small door hinge? The Roadslayer is a highway hauler, I bet she wouldn't mind...I run snowmobile hood hinges on my hard bags!

...and for what it's worth, those frickin harley locking mechanisms seemed so Mickey Mouse to me, that's why I went w snow machine closure straps, they never fail under extremely ugly use, kinda like what you use your shovel for...80 km trips on mud, dirt and potholes in Sask!!!sunny

Fuck !!!Just lost a long response because the site "timed out".

Anywho....Hinges won't work w/ the tour pack on.It's a tight deal to lift and pivot the lid off.I've just made a front tab for my spare lid.It had the wrong fastener on it.It was a wee ordeal doin it COB style.I don't really want to do it again for the 2 that I need. The top ribbed pieces gives strength to the lid at the lockin tab.If I'd been more aware I would have noticed that the front latch was unhooked when I unpacked in Lamont Alta..Probably like that all the way from near Melfort Sask. I had to sneek into the bag to get and exhaust gasket for jmac.I did that without removing all my camp gear on top of it.It must have come unhooked then and was held down by all the camp gear.Took 60+ mph speed and a good blast from a passing semi to pop it off.Damn near ripped the lock outa the bag.Had to glue it back into place.

Well I'm not surprised what with your trying to catch cigarette packs, gum wrappers, lighters, coffee cups and the like as they flew off Jmac's bike, all while navigating potholes and stray cats on them Sask backroads!! Hard to keep track of everything that ain't glued down....at 75 mph

When we were riding between Saskatoon and Rosetown on the way home, a cattle liner passed us, there was a strong headwind and as he went past and pulled into the lane ahead, the liquid contents of his trailer splashed out the right side with his swerve to straighten the trailer in the right lane............what a pleasure it was to ride into that veritable tidal wave of cow piss:no:

I'm off beef for the time being

Been there between Coleman and 7 Persons in the pouring rain.Got stuck beside a Bauler Hauler as the cattle crapped out the open side. OH YEAH. Welcome to Alta!!!! Always wondered up til then ,"What are those brown long streaks?" on the west Kootenay and Alberta roads.

Just to finish this queery off.
Von on the US site has come up w/ the hardware that I need.He has graciously sent it w/ no payment wanted for the pieces or postage.I offered to at least pay postage but he declined my offer.

Holy shit that's extremely generous, good on Von!!! So, how do you secure those lids so they don't fly off again, I still think those key latches will work themselves loose I've seen it on mine before...gonna have to install an electric motor in the Shovel to keep the vibration down...a true Electra Glide sunny

Attention to details is what I believe is the solution.I've shimed the lock mechanism," every which way but loose ", to take up all the slop.It takes a bit of force to turn my lock mechanisms. My lids take downward pressure, compressing the gasket, before the key can be turned to lock the lid.The front and back tabs have been massaged (bent carefully) to give a tighter contact.

Details,details,details is the solution!!!!!!!!

Oh,yeah,....and making sure that even when the lid is locked that the front lid tab is in the bag loop!!!

Glass bag hardware wanted!!! <a href=Glass bag hardware wanted!!! Redone10" />

Finally got the lid painted to my satisfaction.Hardware was not too bad to mount after I made up the anvil from a stainless bolt.Set the rivet head in the divot that I drilled in the bolt head and spread the hollow shaft w/ my rivettin punch.
Now to keep my eyes out for that left side red speedball emblem. Idea  Twisted Evil
