A little misfire, backfire and no power?
Took the scoot out today even though the weather was a little dreary.Ran fine til I hit a 50 mph road.Power dropped and alot of misfireing. As the speed dropped a lotta backfire commenced .Bein not far from my brothers I pulled a Uey and got to his place.Checked all ignition wiring and carb function. All appeared good .I remembered my battery cutoff woes from last year so swapped the ground cable for another that I had already plumbed in the scoot.Fired it up and all seemed not bad but still wouldn't idle.Checked the points and they were closed.Reset and that was it.Got about a mile and again the same symptoms.Shotgunned it (sound of the scoot) into town onto a quiet back street and went to adjust the points again as they were closed.Wondering "What in the Wide Wide World of Shovels is agoing on ".The points rub block can't be wearing that fast.Bumped the advance weight 9/16" bolt in the porocess of adjusting and it wiggled.Friggin bolt had back out and my cam was a floppin .Tightened it down reset the points and rode up to the lake in fine form and function.
Got a little fine tuning to do now on the timing and points gap and swap back my ground to the switch.Still need 400 mi. and an oil change before i'm AOK for the 2013 Tour.

Denn, sounds like she wants to enter this summer kickin and screaming ....but I'm confident that she'll settle down and return to her regular dependable self soon.

I figured that it had to be a simple solution. It had run so good a few days ago and started out strong today.2nd gear damn near pulls unready hands of the bars.
Think I'll end up pulling out a new set of points and condensor and put these in the Tour parts kit.

Good to have
Them cheap test meters can save alot of headaches trouble shooting electric gremlins. I gotta get me a new battery to be safe this year. My battery now is one of those AGM ones and its got at least 6 or seven years on it so it must be time for a new one....I think that was half my trouble last year.

Think I gave all those critters the boot. The weerier ran like a champ today.New Blue Streak points and condensor and a retune.
Haven't run Streaks for awhile.I remember probs w/ the points before. The rub block for the cam is very small and gives false timing spark if it gets too short. So far so good.Hope I remember that when it runs rough this summer.
